London, UK, 19 November 2010 – Core were proud to be one of a select few companies invited to the ACTSO (Association of Chief Trading Standards Officers) event, focusing on how local authorities can operate more efficiently.
The event took place in the fantastic London Guildhall and was an opportunity for chief Trading Standards officers from around the country to engage on the important issue of how to tackle the challenge of doing more for less in the Government’s new ‘big society’.
Core were personally asked to be involved in the event by Steve Greenfield, the chair of ACTSO and event organiser. He was particularly keen that Core be involved, saying, “It is important that, as an industry, we engage with companies who have the skills and experience in providing cost-effective solutions to improve intelligence-sharing across authorities whilst minimising the duplication of work. By developing the Intelligence Database - the most effective collaboration database available - Core is clearly the type of company that needs to be included in our long-term efficiency plans.”
The Intelligence Database is a system built by Core on Microsoft SharePoint which holds the data of Regulatory Services throughout the country, thus breaking down geographical barriers and allowing officers, departments and authorities to work together.
Core’s Operations and Technical Director, Eamon McGann, confirmed that the extensive experience Core has in developing systems using SharePoint shall be of great value in helping improve efficiency within local government, stating that, “At a time when we all need to do more for less, SharePoint 2010’s improved functionality and implementation time enables us to offer more efficient, cost-effective solutions.”
