SharePoint is 10 Years Old!

London, UK, 7th April 2011 – This week is the 10th anniversary of Microsoft SharePoint and, as early adopters of the platform in 2001, Core have been helping customers get the most from their SharePoint investments since the very beginning!

Core’s CEO, Conor Callanan, explains how the introduction of SharePoint changed Core’s focus as a business; “Back in 2001, we saw the power and vision of SharePoint and were extremely excited by the possibilities it offered. We felt it had so much potential that we decided to concentrate our efforts on becoming SharePoint specialists, and 10 years on it has proven to be a hugely successful decision.”

In his recent blog post, Jeff Teper, Corporate Vice President of SharePoint, stated that “We saw a tremendous opportunity to help our customers break down silos between people and technologies. The notion that we could deliver users an experience that transcended the web and Microsoft Office, combining traditional collaboration, document management, search and portals capabilities with an architecture spanning personal, team, intranet and internet sites challenged many assumptions in the industry about what was possible.”

While the functionality and capabilities of SharePoint has expanded greatly from its original version, so too has the number of dedicated users, making SharePoint the industry leading collaboration platform used by tens of thousands of organisations. With the demand for collaboration solutions growing within organisations year on year, the next 10 years continues to look very promising for SharePoint.
