EETSA represents the liaison and business arrangements between the trading standards authorities in the East of England. Through co-ordination and co-operation, this partnership aims to maximise the effectiveness of resources to protect the community and encourage enterprise in the local economy.
The work of the Trading Standards Service covers a wide diversity of areas and is extremely varied. The service has responsibility for over 80 Acts of Parliament and over 1000 sets of Regulations and Orders, and as such, is a major regulatory service in Local Government. Trading Standards activities include investigation of complaints, sampling of goods, inspections and visits, giving guidance to businesses and industry as well as offering civil advice and consumer education.
